The Sandy City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday on proposed new development rules on property around Dimple Dell Park.

Up for discussion will be a proposed overlay zone that would allow for development of traditional subdivisions with larger setbacks adjacent to the park and along Dimple Dell Road. Alternatively, the city has considered allowing for a cluster subdivision with smaller lot sizes and dedicated open space adjoining the Park.

Last month, the Sandy Planning Commission backed the traditional subdivision option over the cluster option following a lengthy discussion and public input.

The issue is coming up now because the city last December imposed a development moratorium on property bordering the park following rejection of a rezoning application for a residential development along Dimple Dell Road. The moratorium expires June 12.

Dimple Dell is a 644-acre natural area with horse, bike and foot trails.

The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of City Hall, 10000 Centennial Parkway.
